Safety Tip: Protect Yourself from Hearing Loss

Noise-related hearing loss is one of the most prevalent -- yet easily prevented -- health concerns in the U.S. If you work in noisy conditions, take the proper precautions to minimize the potential for long-term hearing loss:

  1. Know the warning signs. Conditions might be too noisy if you: hear ringing or humming in your ears when you leave work; have to shout to be heard by a co-worker an arm's length away; or experience temporary hearing loss when leaving work.
  2. Wear the right equipment. Hearing protection devices (HPDs), such as earmuffs and ear plugs, are a simple way to control noise exposure. Be sure to wear equipment supplied by your site supervisor.
  3. Report potentially hazardous conditions. Wood Personnel Services wants you to stay safe on the job. If noise levels are a concern while you're on assignment with our client, tell your staffing coordinator immediately.
